Missions

Discipling

“Go and make disciples” were Jesus’ parting words as He sent His friends to join His mission in drawing all people to Him.  We understand His words as a mandate for believers to form deep friendships through which we help each other grow in Christ likeness. In the spiritual practice of discipling, we walk side by side along the faith journey, teaching, encouraging, and loving one another. As each believer disciples another believer, God’s presence multiplies exponentially – a chain reaction of learning, growth, challenge, and love that will transform our world.

Educating

Nazarenes everywhere are sharing the mission stories of the church. Telling the story instills passion for mission. When Christ’s followers know what is at stake and hear how others are obeying God’s call to mission, they are challenged to participate as well.

Giving

The Church of the Nazarene acknowledges that Faith Promise giving is a biblical method used by many local churches for raising financial support for world evangelization. Promoted by Nazarene Missions International (NMI), your Faith Promise money will supply World Evangelism Fund plus all the other offerings we take for missions. Each year we take offerings for District NMI, District Children’s Project, Jesus Film Partnership. Our LINKS  missionary families, Missionary Health Care, World Mission Broadcast, and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. All these offerings, as well as the World Evangelism Fund, will be included in Faith Promise. We will continue to take our Alabaster offering twice a year.

This year our Faith Promise goal is $50,000. You may designate your offering for any of the above offerings, Faith Promise, or Work and Witness. We will honor designated offerings to the appropriate offering.

 Praying

Prayer is talking and listening to God. It is sharing our thoughts, questions, fears, and desires, opening our lives to God, holding nothing back. It is telling God our admiration for who He is and contemplating His qualities. It is listening while He talks to us, providing comfort, peace, guidance, and direction requiring our worshipful obedience. Prayer is also solidarity. Just as Jesus bore our burdens on His cross, we bear the burdens of others as if they were our own, laying them before the Father. In prayer we approach Him in the names of those who don’t yet know Jesus, and asking God to bring them into His family.

Faith Promise - September 17, 2017

Our Faith Promise speakers will be Jaron & Elizabeth Graham, the Grahams will speak in both Sunday morning services (9:30 & 10:50) and then return for our evening service at 6pm. The Grahams have served as missionaries in Hamilton New Zealand, where they serve as pastors of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene and help train and equip other pastors and leaders across the New Zealand District Church of the Nazarene. Jason graduated from Southern Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary. Elizabeth graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University and PointLoma Nazarene University.

For decades, hundreds of thousands of Christians have been involved in Faith Promise. Giving through Faith Promise is an adventure and an opportunity to  allow God to show how He can provide when we open our hearts and our wallets to do generous things for His Kingdom. A Faith Promise is a promise made in faith between an individual and God.

Gifts to Faith Promise provide for many types of ministry in the global Church of the Nazarene. These   ministries are supported through the World  Evangelism Fund. Faith  Promise commitments are given systematically for global mission. Easter and Thanksgiving offerings are also included in this giving plan. For Faith Promise, people pray about the amount to give for global mission beyond their tithe.

The World Evangelism Fund fuels the Church of the Nazarene’s global mission. Because we can do more working together than we can alone, every church shares a portion of income for the purpose of making Christlike disciples in the nations.
